PRODUCT DESIGN COURSE PROJECT

Design of two electro-mechanical products were analyzed. The purpose of this project was two-fold:

​

1. Analyze the relationship between customer needs, technical specifications, and the reasons for purchase of a product.

​

2. Identification of relevant system attributes and the corresponding technical mapping between said attributes and system design variables.

PROJECT OUTLINE

1. Conduct customer interviews to understand the voice-of-the-customer (VoC) i.e. the customer needs.
​
2. Construct the relationship matrix for the house of quality.
​
3. Identify 3 competitor products and benchmark their critical-to-quality metrics (CTQs).
​
4. Create a table of system attributes and corresponding attribute levels.
​
5. Create a system map to demonstrate how each design variable is linked to the system attribute.
